Song of the Abyss has been released!

It's finally time! Song of the Abyss has been released for the Josei Game Jam 2025!

My development went from a wholly solo affair, struggling with trying to get blurry sprites to work the way I wanted, to having the support of friends in the creation of art and CGs.

About Song of the Abyss

Song of the Abyss is told from the perspective of a jellyfish mermaid whose natural habitat is the deep sea.  As you'd expect, this influences her biology and senses: she's unable to see well and interacts with the human world differently than you or I.

Cnidra (whose name can be chosen a bit into the story) lives privately in the back of an aquarium, completely by her choice.

Slowly learning language and customs, Cnidra is alone in a world dramatically different from the one she grew up in.  It's only when she meets a new intern at the aquarium that she starts to open up, sharing her dreams and experiences with the first human who views her as more than a responsibility.
